The Society :Part One-Beauty

I`m going to discuss a topic that many of us avoid to discuss but yet it effects every last one of us and that is "The Society" I have pondered on this topic for a few days trying to figure out what exactly was my motive for writing on this topic.  Did I want to single out the images that society pretty much place for everyone to live by? Or Did I want to take a different approach and discuss how society is screwing up not just our future but our children's future as well. Then it hits me to write exactly what has been on my heart for awhile now and that is everything from what I see, hear, and experience all because of society.

So I`m starting off with society`s image of beauty because it's one thing that effects all women of every age, race and background. Little girls that are as young as four years old are talking about dieting. Shouldn't their focus in the world be on the colors in a crayola box instead of  counting calories, Why at such a tender and carefree age are our daugthers worried about carbs? I would tell you why, Our little girls are told that being chubby is ugly and who is tell them that of course the world is. How many times have you seen a new diet craze on the cover of magazines with some washed up, two pounds away from looking like they suffer from an eating disorder woman promoting quick results that would make us more beautiful. I myself is on the heavy side and honestly I'm 100% for eating healthy and exercising. Truth is the method used to promote weight loss is telling us that a size 2 is more attractive then a size 22, its not just the weight that is marketed to our youth. Hair, We all would love to have beautiful hair, question is what is beautiful hair? Is it hair that silky like Caucasians and Asains or is it  thick and curly like those of african decent. Why is it that very few women go natural these days?  Is it for beauty reasons are personal preference. Is it unattractive to have coarse short hair? Society pretty much say it is, how many African American stars do you see without weave or a perm? Not many but the few you do see, you don't see them being marked as beautiful.

Now that we have discussed society overall beauty standards. My question is why is there standards in the African American Race? After all that our race has gone through. Why is it that we find every way possible  to call our own race ugly.  "Oh she look good for a dark skin female" why is it that our skin color even matter. We are all classified as being of african decent. Our ancestors have fought for freedom and to be seen has a equal to our Caucasian counter parts, but yet we do everything to be like them. We straighten our hair, wear clothes made by racist designers that hate our race but what us to make them rich,  and etc. Funny thought that same race that have stripped us of our self-esteem. Tries to indirectly be like us with their skin tanning, lip and butt implants and etc.

I can go on and on about this topic but I'm going to cut it short. Create your own style and forget societies image of beauty. There's nothing more beautiful then you being who you are, there's nothing wrong with do current things to achieve your own personal definition of what's cool, beautiful and chic. The main question is are you doing it to feel better about yourself or to look good for someone else. Please Comment what you think! Your views are important to me! Love Yall and Stay tune to the next segment on society.
